Rolmops are nothing but rolls of herring with a filling, most often pickled cucumbers and onions. The name of the appetizer dish is not accidental - it was invented back in the XIX century, thanks to the fashion for pugs. It was the face of a pug resembled a rolled up herring. We suggest that you also prepare rolmops and check whether the similarity is really obvious?

Step 1
Steam the carrots and slice into thin straws.
Step 2
Cut the pickled cucumbers and onion into the same slices.
Step 3
Combine the vegetables together, add mustard and mix.
Step 4
Cut off a part of herring fillet with skin to make it thinner. Cut into 2 pieces.
Step 5
Put the stuffing on a strip of fillet, roll up and secure with skewers.
Step 6
Sprinkle with black pepper before serving.
