The national dish of the Middle East, hearty and nutritious "Mujadara" made of a mixture of rice and red lentils with tomatoes and herbs

Step 1
Put the lentils and rice in separate pots, pour in half a liter of boiling water each, cover with lids and bring to a boil. Then leave the lentils to steam, and boil the rice until tender. Afterwards, discard on a colander.
Step 2
Dice the onions, cut the leeks into half rings and mince the garlic. Fry onions until soft, add leeks, garlic and corn. Fry for 2-3 minutes. Then add the rice and lentils and fry for another 4-5 minutes, stirring no more than 3 times. Season with spices and salt to taste.
Step 3
Dice the tomatoes and combine with the chopped herbs. Season with salt and olive oil. Serve the mujadara with tomatoes and herbs. Enjoy.
