Lahanorizo (cabbage stew with rice)

The national dish of Greek cuisine is lahanorizo (stewed cabbage with rice).

Ingredients


white cabbage 300 g
long grain rice 120 g
onion 80 g
carrots 60 g
skinned tomatoes 150 g
olive oil 40 ml
water 0,5 l
juice of half a lemon
salt to taste
sugar to taste
black pepper to taste
paprika to taste
coriander to taste

Instructions


Step 1

Chop the onion and carrot and sauté in olive oil. Add the shredded cabbage and diced tomato. Braise the vegetables for 8-10 minutes.

Step 2

Then add the washed rice, lemon juice, salt, paprika, black pepper, coriander and sugar. Stir, pour boiling water to cover the contents by a centimeter and simmer for 25-30 minutes. Bon appetit!
