Baje nut sauce is very popular in Georgia. No Georgian feast is without it. It is served in bowls. Bazhe sauce is usually eaten with chicken, fish or just pour this tasty sauce over Gomi (Mamaliga).
walnuts 150 g |
onion 1/2 head |
fresh cilantro 4 sprigs |
garlic 3 cloves |
wine vinegar 1/2 tsp. |
water 250 ml |
ukkho-suneli 1/2 tsp. |
salt |
red hot pepper to taste |
Step 1
Chop the nuts in a blender.
Step 2
Chop the onions very finely and sauté them in vegetable oil. Then add the cilantro, sauté for 1 minute and remove from the heat.
Step 3
Press the garlic, grind it well in a mortar together with the nuts and salt.
Step 4
Add the onion and cilantro and grind well again.
Step 5
Transfer everything to a blender, alternately whisk and add water. Allow the sauce to infuse for 1-2 hours.
