Andruty is the Galician answer to the famous Viennese Pischinger cake. In the Austrian version, a cream made of cocoa, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla sugar and nuts goes between the layers of wafers.
Unfortunately, nowadays only a very simplified version of Andruta and Pischinger is left in mass sale. In bazaars, canteens and cafes you can easily find waffles smeared with condensed milk, with the unpretentious Soviet name "Waffle Cake". But you can try real andruti only at home of some Lviv hostesses.
