You can order it at a restaurant, or you can buy the seaweed and make a hiyashi wakame salad in minutes along with an incredible sesame dressing!
Hiyashi wakame seaweed 250 g |
sesame seeds 3-4 tbsp. |
water 50 ml |
soy sauce |
salt |
sugar |
Step 1
Lightly toast the sesame seeds in a dry pan. Grind in a blender to make sesame flour.
Step 2
Pour into a saucepan, add water, a little soy sauce and 1-2 tablespoons of sugar. Add a pinch of salt and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly so there are no lumps. When the sauce starts to thicken, remove from the heat.
Step 3
Place the hiyashi wakame seaweed in a bowl. They are usually sold frozen, so you'll need to defrost them in advance.
Step 4
Add a few tablespoons of sesame sauce to the seaweed and stir to combine.
Step 5
Place on a platter and drizzle with a little more sauce. Serve as a salad or appetizer.
Ground sesame flour can also be added to soups, sauces and breadcrumbs. This will give the dishes a savory flavor.
