From French, millefeuille translates to yarrow. Simply put, a millefeuille is a cake made of whipped cream, fruit filling and petals of airy and crispy puff pastry. There are a great many varieties of millefeuille, but today Dasha chose a classic combination for the filling - strawberries with whipped cream.
puff pastry 1/2 cup. |
cream (33%) 500 ml |
strawberries 300 g |
vanilla pod 1 pc |
sugar (for millefeuille) |
powdered sugar 4 tbsp. |
mint (for decoration) a few sprigs |
Step 1
Wash the strawberries and peel off their tails. Cut the berries into small cubes.
Step 2
Defrost the puff pastry and cut it into 6 rectangles.
Step 3
Cover a baking tray with parchment paper, lay out the rectangles of dough, sprinkle them well with sugar and bake for 10 minutes at 220C. Cool the finished cakes on a wire rack.
Step 4
Whisk the cream until thick and thick. Add powdered sugar to the whipped cream and whisk well again.
Step 5
Cut open the vanilla pod, add the vanilla seeds to the whipped cream and mix gently.
Step 6
Form the millefeuille: cut the puff pastry horizontally. Coat the bottom part thickly with whipped cream, top with diced strawberries and cover with the top part of the pastry. Sprinkle the strawberry millefeuille with powdered sugar and garnish with mint.
