Step 1
Prepare the opara - add the yeast, sugar and a little flour to the warm milk. Stir, cover with a towel and leave in a warm place for 30 minutes.
Step 2
After this time, add to the sifted flour, opara, grated butter, egg, one yolk and salt. Knead the dough, cover with a towel and leave in a warm place for 1 hour.
Step 3
Prepare the filling. In a saucepan combine the grated poppy seeds, chopped apricots and water. Bring to the boil, reduce the temperature and simmer stirring for 5 minutes. After a while, add the rum, honey and mix thoroughly.

Roll out the dough into a rectangle, about 1 centimeter thick. Spread the filling evenly, leaving the edges of the dough free. Roll up, pinch the edges and place on a parchment-lined baking tray, seam side down. Cover with a towel and leave in a warm place for 30 minutes.
Step 5
After this time, brush the roll with egg yolk and bake in the oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 50 minutes.
Step 6
Serve the makovec cold by cutting into portioned pieces. Sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired.
