A classic of Odessa cuisine - pate of herring with apples and onions... simply put, forshmak.
| salted herring fillet 300 g |
| green apple 120 g |
| onion 60 g |
| white bread 50 g |
| milk 50 ml |
| melted butter 70 g |
| apple cider vinegar 20 ml |
| salt |
| black pepper |
Step 1
Soak the bread crumbs in milk.
Step 2
Chop the herring fillets.
Step 3
Dice the peeled apple and onion and combine in a blender with the butter, vinegar, milked bread crumbs and blend until smooth.
Step 4
Combine the resulting mixture with the herring, salt and pepper. Pack tightly and put in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
Step 5
Serve forshmak to the table chilled. Enjoy.
