For breakfast, soft, flavorful Scottish Honey Scones with rolled oats
| Hercules oat flakes 0.5 cup |
| honey (liquid) 2 tbsp. |
| butter (softened) 100 g |
| wheat flour 350 g |
| milk (room temperature) 250 g |
| baking powder 20 g |
| sugar 1 tbsp. |
| salt 1 tsp. |
Step 1
Mix the oats with honey and 20 grams of butter. Place in an even layer on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake for 10 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius. Then allow to cool.
Step 2
Add salt, sugar, baking powder, remaining butter to the sifted flour and mix until crumbly. Then pour in the milk and knead into a non-thick dough. Crumble and add the baked oats to the dough and knead until smooth. Cover the dough with a towel and leave to rest for 30 minutes.
Step 3
After this time, fill muffin molds with the dough and bake the skonas at 200 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes. Serve with butter, jam and milk for tea, if desired.
