Cooling and refreshing Sicilian strawberry granita
strawberries 450 g |
sugar 60 g |
water 100 ml |
lemon juice 30 ml |
mint leaves 10 g |
Step 1
Peel the strawberries from their stalks, combine with the mint and beat with a blender until smooth. Strain the puree through a sieve.
Step 2
Prepare the syrup. Combine the sugar and warm water and stir with a whisk until the sugar is dissolved.
Step 3
Then pour the syrup into the strawberry-mint puree, add lemon juice and stir until homogeneous. Pour the resulting mixture into a convenient mold or container and place in the freezer for 40-50 minutes.
Step 4
After the time has passed, loosen the granita with a fork and return it to the freezer again. Repeat this procedure every 40-50 minutes until the granita is completely frozen.
Step 5
Serve with fresh strawberries and mint, if desired. Enjoy.
